The tour starts at the Sooke Potholes a truly stunning and magical river that looks like cookie cutters have carved out the rocks . The next destination is surfers paradise known as Jordan River and Sombrio Beach another surfers haven. We will also stop at French Beach which is only a few minute walk to the ocean with it’s amazing view of the Olympic Mountains across to the states. Then another pit stop at Botanical Beach where there is epic ocean tide pools with all kinds of colorful sea life, including; star fish, sea urchins, sea anemones, hermit crabs, rock crabs, sea snails, small fish, exotic seaweeds, octopus and more. If the group is feeling energetic and inclined to do so we can hike a little further past Botanical Beach and see the beautiful island at Botany Bay,  you can even go visit this island during low tide.

By now it is time for lunch, either have packed your own or enjoy one of the few restaurants in Port Renfrew. After lunch we will access part of the Avatar Grove old growth forest but not stray to far from the parking lot, just enough to see some huge old growth trees but we will not see Canada’s Gnarliest tree, for that you must book the #2 or #3 tour package. After the Avatar Grove old growth forest enjoy the ride 10 km north of Port Renfrew to Gordon River Valley home of “Old Lonely Doug” the second largest douglas fir tree in Canada and the only thing standing for miles in a clear cut.

Then it’s back to home to Sooke.

In this tour you will see everything package #1 and #2 see’s plus you will get to experience the secret hidden emerald 5 star cave waterfall that lies at the end of Sombrio Beach. You will also get to explore Mystic Beach and it’s breath taking waterfall and blowhole. If it is a full tide when we arrive, there may be a spectacle show at the blowhole. We often see dolphins and whales here since the blowhole mimics the ever so familiar sound of their own blowholes. Then we will visit French Beach and China Beach and do some exploration there. After that we will hit the Avatar Grove old growth forest and see Canada’s gnarliest tree and the Great Grandmother tree at the end of the trail. The whales and dolphins congregate here as it is a familiar sound to their own blowholes. It literally sounds like the rocks and ocean are alive and breathing. Once the spurt of water starts to fall back down it typically makes a huge magical rainbow from all the mist that is created. But all this is contingent on arriving at the blow hole during the full tide.
